SmashTown is the successor of SmashVille from Super Smash Bros. 4. It’s overall design is based off from the Animal Crossing 3DS version thus giving in a very perceptive, depth oriented view. While few details have be released, it has been hinted that possibly the Human character will become the mayor of the town in Animal Crossing 3DS.

Appearance

The main platform is a long platform that is made of gray bricks instead of a wooden feel of the stage in SmashVille. Above the main stage are two wooden platforms that move back and forth. They are opposite of each other. The right side platform moves slightly faster then the left side platform but it then switches during the game. In particular, the most astonishing aspect of this stage is background. Animal Crossing characters line up in the background to watch the fight. These characters are random at each match and some are rarer then others.

Throughout the match, the background changes. It essentially gives a tour of the Animal Crossing town. It first starts off in front of the train station and the buildings that sit behind it. The train will occasionally come through the station and then leave. After 50 seconds, the back ground will pan down the village (made to look 3D due to the 3DS). It will slowly go over the hills, forests, and rivers that are south of the train station. The stage will then drop down the cliff to the beach where it will stop for 30 seconds. Other characters (those not found on the stage) can be found on the beach walking around.

The stage will then go over the ocean where other characters can be found swimming. The background does not stop but it slowly goes over the ocean which gives a lovely view. Underneath the stage, islands and boats will appear, much like the map. The stage then shifts to the left of the beach and goes under the train. This is truly the only hazard since the train tracks can obstruct the players from view of their characters.

The stage will then go up and settle over the stairs overlooking the set of buildings in the north of the train station. The stage will rest for 50 seconds before it moves to the main town center over the fountain. Again, characters can be seen going about businesses. The stage will then move after 40 seconds to sit in front of the train station.

Much like how SmashVille was, the background of the state wholly depends on the time of day and the time of month.

Seasons

Spring – The stage appears vibrant and lush with green trees, beautiful flowers, and sakurai trees. The platforms are decked with flowers and sakura petals. Spring occurs from March to May.

Summer – You can really feel the heat! Locusts chirp everywhere, trees are in full bloom, yet the grass has a light green tint to it. The ocean sparkles at this time of year! As well, this is the time that swimmers are out the most. The platforms have summer flowers and dirt on them. Summer occurs between June and August.

Fall – Fall has the most varied of colors with orange, purple, and brown trees, brown, dying grass, and acorns strewn about everywhere. The platforms have fall leaves and chestnuts on them. Fall occurs between September and November.

Winter – Snow and ice falls from the sky and blankets everything. Snowmen can be seen dotting the fields. The ocean and beach is devoid of people and looks very cold. Everything is covered in white, so pretty! The platforms are covered in snow and ice thus making the platforms rather slippery.

Weather

Additionally, during Spring, Summer, and Fall, rain or thunderstorms might come through the stage. It does not affect the game play in anyway. During Winter, snow can often be seen falling. Winter occurs between December and February.

The music is much different in SmashTown then in SmashVille. Every hour has it’s own tune that plays during the match. However, on Fridays nights when K.K. Slider plays, a K.K. Slider song will play.  All songs are from Animal Crossing: City Folk however will change when Animal Crossing 3DS is released.

My Thoughts

Animal Crossing 3DS has yet to be released but I feel it would be good to incorporate aspects from the game into the new Animal Crossing stage.  I thought this would work similar to Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2.  In SSB4, there would be a new Animal Crossing stage that continues SmashVille’s theme.  This was fun to put together but it took a lot of time and effort to get the links and cameos in!

Chances of Being in SSB4

90% – I feel we will get a Animal Crossing 3DS themed stage without a shadow of a doubt.
